It started with an art series called “Hands & Feet”. “Why hands and feet” some ask. The journey started in 1992. As a charcoal artist, focusing on drawing hands and feet allowed me to explore the expressive power of the human form in its most dynamic and communicative details. Hands and feet convey emotion, movement, and personality without relying on facial expressions, offering endless opportunities to study anatomy, texture, and light. The rough, tactile quality of charcoal complements the complexity of skin, bone, and muscle, creating powerful contrasts and depth. By specializing in these often-overlooked subjects, your work highlights the beauty and vulnerability found in the everyday gestures that define human experience.

In 2019 I started portrait work for friends and family and within a year it engulfed all of my free time and still does. Although there is satisfaction in creating work that makes people smile, I enjoy the process of approaching portraiture, struggling and finding solutions every time as I am able to take experience with me each time.
